Originally marked as speedy for being derivative works. Uploader changed that to a normal deletion request, but didn't create the discussion page and list entry. I'm hereby fixing this. --Latebird (talk) 20:56, 6 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

That sounds like good news, provided that the name of the author and the title of the work are mentioned. Does such a billboard even have an individual author? Are there any precedents on how to handle such seemingly anonymous propaganda works? --Latebird (talk) 21:04, 7 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I can't even read this. What does it say? -Nard the Bard 02:45, 8 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
  •  Comment I originally nominated both images for speedy deletion derivatives because the photos are of billboards, which unless I'm not seeing it right, both look like they feature 2 separate photos each, one of Deng and another of a background. My issue with these is that the photos that the billboards feature may still be copyrighted under Chinese law if they're less than 50 years old. I didn't feel that FOP in this context applied because the works were photographic as opposed to sculptural or buildings. However does FOP apply to 2D works like this also? COM:FOP to me seems to focus more on buildings and sculptures. --BrokenSphere 07:04, 9 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Chinese copyright law applies FOP equally to all types of works (§22, item 10). --Latebird (talk) 19:06, 13 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

No FoP for 2D works in China A1Cafel (talk) 03:33, 20 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Comment There is FoP for 2D works in China though? As long as the name of the work and the author are mentioned and as long as the work is located in a public space, 2D works are covered by FoP, unless they are murals or outdoor paintings. Billboards are neither murals nor outdoor paintings. Or am I misunderstanding the text on the Chinese FoP page? It says:

"Article 24: In the following cases, a work may be exploited without the permission from, and without payment of remuneration to, the copyright owner, provided that the name or designation of the author and the title of the work are mentioned and the normal use of the work, or unreasonably damage the lawful rights and interests of the copyright owner shall not be affected:(10) copying, drawing, photographing, or video recording of an artistic work located or on display in a public place;..." Nakonana (talk) 16:24, 21 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

The hotel was completed in 1975 by André Wogenscky (1916–2004). There is no freedom of panorama in Lebanon. The copyright term of the country is 50 years, and the image can be undeleted in 2055.

The file purports to be the flag of Wang Jingwei regime, except from Flags of the Republic of China-Nanjing we can see the opposite. From a Google image search it appears that the file is from a Hearts of Iron IV mod named The New Order: Last Days of Europe. As the file is unlikely to be used on Wikimedia projects (there're countless attempts supported by consensus that the mod is fringe and not notable), the file fails COM:EDUSE and should be deleted. 廣九直通車 (talk) 04:58, 20 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Keep. According to en:Rochdale Pioneers Museum, the museum has been in this location since 1931. I think it's a reasonable assumption that the design of the mural has been constant all that time, though it's obviously been repainted occasionally (and indeed has moved along the wall). File:The Co-op Museum, Toad Lane, Rochdale. - geograph.org.uk - 423498.jpg shows that the design hasn't changed since 1990, at least. As a work of unknown authorship, the mural fell into the public domain 70 years after publication, which would be 2001 at the latest. So I think unless there's some evidence that the design of the mural is actually recent, or that the designer died after 1953, the mural should be treated as being free. --bjh21 (talk) 16:19, 20 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

It was probably designed by architect André Pavlovsky as part of the lighthouse system of Saint-Jean-de-Luz. Pavlosvsky died less than 70 years ago and there is no FOP in France as also stated in Category:Phare de Saint-Jean-de-Luz GiorgioGaleotti (talk) 14:36, 20 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Keep - if you're going to cite another deletion discussion, at the very least wait for it to be decided. There's clearly disagreement on whether COM:COSTUME applies. I, for one, would argue that it does apply because the images depict a performer at work. It's also important to note that the source of this photo is the British Department for Culture, Media and Sport, so this isn't some derivative work made by somebody who doesn't have any rights to distribute images of the characters. Would it make a difference — copyright-wise — if the book was printed (and produced) in Germany in 1922 instead of the Soviet Union? It looks like the Soviet Union had issues with book printing and publishing during that time, and they turned to the publishing house Z.I. Grzhebina (by which this book was published) because it was publishing Russian-language books abroad (in Berlin, Germany). It even seems that the publishing house had problems delivering the printed books into the USSR because the publisher had some conflict with the Soviet government. The publishing house went bankrupt shortly after (around 1925) because they couldn't sell the books.[1]
Is it possible that the book cover would fall under German copyright laws? Nakonana (talk) 22:04, 21 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Currently, the logo is marked "PD-old-70" due to the creation date being 1900. However, the club did not use that logo at that time, it used this logo: File:Gimnasialp logo 1900.png. So this file is a more modern logo that is used to this day, however without a correct source or date it is unknown if it is in the public domain in both Argentina and the United States. The logo is obviously too complex for the threshold of originality, so if the file information that could put it in the public domain isn't provided, it's more than likely a copyright violation, it should be best to remove it under PCP. nicolas talkpage★★★ 16:47, 20 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

No other content regarding this unit can be found elsewhere apart from Twitter, all content seem to originate from this Telegram channel. The unti, according to Militant Wire, trains alongside the Russian Volunteer Corps much like the Karelian National Battalion. It's quite simple, since the unit fights in coordination with the Russian Volunteer Corps, its part of the International Legion under the direction of the GUR MO.
It seems to be the official, I can't say for certain - but judging on all the content originating from this Telegram channel; I think it's safe to say it is. Davomme (talk) 15:31, 25 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
