copyright issue
I was not aware of the policies here, now onwards I will not upload copyrighted photos--रोहित साव27 (talk) 17:51, 23 May 2020 (UTC)
Derivative work
Hello! What exactly is the problem here? Both images are my own work, what information do you need? Regards, j.budissin+/- 18:16, 24 May 2020 (UTC)
- @J budissin: To be clear, you may request a permission from COM:OTRS. This also applies even you are the copyright holder. --A1Cafel (talk) 02:18, 25 May 2020 (UTC)
- Who should grant me a permission? It's entirely my own work, so I don't need to contact OTRS and I don't need any permission for uploading it. That's even written on the OTRS page. Please simply remove your template and the problem will be solved. Regards, j.budissin+/- 11:16, 25 May 2020 (UTC)
- I just uploaded the two images separately now and named them as source here. So that should be okay now, doesn't it? Regards, j.budissin+/- 11:55, 25 May 2020 (UTC)

Dear sir or madam, this picture does NOT violet any copyright law. I am the owner of the picture and I provide to Wikipedia licence for Creative Commons. I put a mark on the wiki sites, send an email and I am in contact with Czech Wikipedia organisation. They told me, everything is all right. Could you explain where is the problem according to you? Why do you delete any pictures based on your instinct and without any proof? Undelete the picture immediately!
Thank you for your answer --Yarrrick (talk) — Preceding unsigned comment was added by 194.228.13.33 (talk) 11:27, 28 May 2020 (UTC)
- Hello Yarrrick The photo depicted a copyrighted book cover, which is considered as COM:DW. Unless you are the copyright holder of this book, permission to use the photo is required. You may ask for permission via COM:OTRS. --A1Cafel (talk) 14:04, 28 May 2020 (UTC)
- Off course I am the owner of the book cover. I gave permission years ago and I do not need to prove it to you (please ask any representant of Czech Wikipedia). So, please give back the picture and stop try to be a judge and jury in one person. This issue is behind your capacities and knowledge. If you will continue in deleting my book cover which I provide to Wikipedia, I will start to take all necessary steps to punish your behaviour in Wiki-community. It is unbelievable that somebody from Asia is trying to delete the picture which provides to Czech Wikipedia. Focus on your local Wiki and do not try to repair the world!!! Undelete the picture immediately! --Yarrrick (talk)
- @Yarrrick: You may request undeletion at COM:UDR. --A1Cafel (talk) 02:12, 31 May 2020 (UTC)

Tagging
Hi A1Cafel. Please be more mindful when tagging files. This was not an appropriate tag as the coat of arms depicted in File:ZTM stopka.svg is in public domain in Poland per Polish law, and the text portion is non-copyrightable. Thank you. --Ìch heiss Nat. Redd mìt mìr. 06:52, 4 June 2020 (UTC)

--Aguetul (talk) 09:52, 4 June 2020 (UTC)
- @Aguetul: The source you listed appears to be some TV series. These logos have a complex background (above COM:TOO) and required a specific source or link to verify the copyright status. --A1Cafel (talk) 14:06, 4 June 2020 (UTC)
- I added wikilinks to all files mentioned above. The relation between link and TV series can be verfied by looking at the corresponding page of the series in the german Wikipedia. Is that okay? BTW: There are tons of TV logos in Wikimedia without such a link.
- --Aguetul (talk) 15:26, 4 June 2020 (UTC)
- @Aguetul: Simply showing the relations is not enough. It is better for you to obtain an official permission via OTRS. --A1Cafel (talk) 15:52, 4 June 2020 (UTC)
- @Aguetul and A1Cafel: I think the source is okay now. The question is if the logos are above Threshold of originality and therefore copyrightable or not. If it is copyrightable we need a permission. I am not an expert in when it is above Threshold of originality but I think it should not be a speedy deletion. --MGA73 (talk) 16:23, 4 June 2020 (UTC)
- @MGA73 and A1Cafel: Thank you for this comment, MGA73. This is also my opinion. I do not believe, that the logos are above threshold of originality, but this may be checked. Hence, the "No source"-comments should be deleted.
- --Aguetul (talk) 16:34, 4 June 2020 (UTC)
- @Aguetul: I agree that the logo (the text) is not the biggest problem. I worry more about the background. Most visible on File:Ein Chirurg erinnert sich Logo.jpg. But I think you could argue that it is de minimis. --MGA73 (talk) 17:08, 4 June 2020 (UTC)
- Yes, I would argue in that way. Thank you in any case for deleting the "No source"-comments. I already linked another icon to de:Liebe ist Privatsache, that now only shows letters.
- --Aguetul (talk) 17:47, 4 June 2020 (UTC)
- @MGA73: I see your point. I have removed the {{Nsd}} and turned them to DR. --A1Cafel (talk) 04:42, 5 June 2020 (UTC)
- Good. If I compare with the logos in the old DR that was closed as keep I would expect that this DR is also closed as a keep. But lets see. --MGA73 (talk) 16:15, 5 June 2020 (UTC)

Confirm Deletion of File:História Via Zoom.jpg
Dear A1Cafel, thank you for your warning about the copyright issue in this derivative file i uploaded. Though i took the four used images from Commons at the time, one of them was taken down afterwards, as it had copyright infringments (see: https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Commons:Deletion_requests/File:Capistrano_de_Abreu_01.jpg).
Therefore, i would kindly ask you to delete the image i uploaded, since one of the four images is actually copyrighted (though i didn't know at the time). Sorry for any inconvenience, i'm still new to Commons and the rules for derivative works are still a little hard do understand. Again, thank you for warning me! --Pedro Toniazzo Terres (talk) 16:21, 18 June 2020 (UTC)

re: speedy deletion of Category:Juneteenth_2020
Greetings. I found that you have flagged the category I created for Speedy Deletion. As the flag was placed before I was able to populate the category, I am hoping you can remove the flag now as it is in use and contains images. I am unsure how to proceed, do I indeed need to replace your speedy deletion request with a regular deletion request or would it be okay for you to remove it? Thank you for any advice. New category you created
Hi A1Cafel....I'm not sure I agree with this new category you added for the four images I uploaded for the Black Lives Banner on the U.S. Embassy Seoul, Category:George Floyd protests in South Korea. Although the Embassy added them during the time of the George Floyd protests, there are no sources that call the banner a part of any "protest" by the Embassy or pertaining to any of the other small Seoul protests that did take place.
Anyway, I respect your decision. I have, also, placed them back in a new category Category:Black Lives Matter Seoul since I feel they pertain to Black Lives Matter, specifically, although the countries should not have been under the sub-category "jurisdictions". You were right about that, and I see you caught the other two or three that I modeled after. I think Category:Black Lives Matter by jurisdiction should be renamed under Black Lives Matter in the United States (and other countries in Black Lives Matter by country).....but it is late where I am and I will leave it to another day, and/or other editors.
Thanks for your update!--Bonnielou2013 (talk) 12:21, 23 June 2020 (UTC)
- @Bonnielou2013: I see your point. But before the death of George Floyd, there are (almost) no BLM slogan in South Korea. It is likely that the death of Floyd triggered the BLM Movement in Seoul, so that's why I moved it as part of the George Floyd protest. It seems odd now, as you mentioned for the sub-category "jurisdictions", but I'm going to do anything so as to avoid any conflict. Discussion may be required later, though. --A1Cafel (talk) 13:34, 23 June 2020 (UTC)
George Floyd protests are not Covid-19 protests
Hello, AtCafel. You are removing "George Floyd protests in X" from categories for "Protests in country X" just to put them in a Covid-19 category, but the George Floyd protests have nothing to do with Covid-19. I assume this is an accident, a mistake, but please undo those edits if they haven't been undone already. Thanks, Eissink (talk) 16:59, 23 June 2020 (UTC).

- @A1Cafel: you import files of demonstrations and protests from flickr. But in many cases you import files of events, that are already covered by hundreds of even thousends of images at commons. It would make much more sense if you imported images from demonstrations and protests that by now are not covered at commons at all. There are many images of Floyd protests in New York, brexit protests in London and pride parades in mega cities. Commons however is missing images of protests in smaller towns, of activism for less known victims of rassism, for OBR, pro-life, pro-choice, dyke marches outside US and Germany, Greenpeace, left wingers, right wingers and so on. --C.Suthorn (talk) 05:42, 2 July 2020 (UTC)
Tagging duplicate files
Hi there,
I see that you tagged File:Plélan-le-Grand CM2020.svg as a duplicate of another file. In this case, the two files are identical, but the metadata is different and they're used to represent different things, so it's simpler to keep two identical files than to make it clear that one file represents two different things. --Slashme (talk) 10:57, 1 July 2020 (UTC)

License review tags
Hi; I noticed you tagged some files with Template:LicenseReview that we can't actually review. For example, [1] [2] [3]. As the link says, License Review is for when files are on the internet with license release text that can be changed, such as the YouTube or Flickr Creative Commons licenses, so that if that license changes, we can confirm that they were released earlier. It's not for all files everywhere. In this case, these files aren't actually marked with any license release text, they're uploaded here as (presumably) products of the US Federal Government, which would make them Public Domain as a matter of law; that can't be changed. So there is nothing here to license review. Thanks for your help. --GRuban (talk) 13:22, 8 July 2020 (UTC)

- Well, thanks for pointing me to that discussion, but it doesn't quite clarify the situation. What am I expected to do now? Use {{OGL}} instead? Wait for admin's review? Those two photos were taken by the municipality and released as PD, I was pretty sure they were OK to be uploaded to Commons. —capmo (talk) 03:43, 10 August 2020 (UTC)
US law
First, why don't you get an understanding of US law. US Court decisions have ruled that artworks which are part of the exterior architecture of buildings -- such as "Metronome" -- are covered by the Freedom of Panorams for architecture which come into law at the time that architecture was deemed copyrightable. Any building in the US seen from a public place can be freely photographed and the photographed published. This applies also to artistic works which are an intruinsic part of the exterior architecture of the building. Beyond My Ken (talk) 11:03, 5 August 2020 (UTC)
- Sometimes mistakes are made when you upload a batch of 5000 images, you don't need to explain FOP to me. I'm asking you to not make 10 seperare deletion requests when you see a bunch of pictures from the same object in a country that has no FOP. Doing so is messy. Also: it would be better to add DR's about FOP to the appropriate category so that they can be undeleted when a country does get FOP, like Belgium did a couple of years ago. Re: Flickr2Commons
Thanks for the advice, I am not very knowledgeable about the tools, so it was not my intention to do it that way. Although I don't understand why it duplicated the file if it had already been uploaded, I totally don't see a difference. Regards.--Dimartz (talk) 03:10, 17 August 2020 (UTC)
Editing restrictions
Due to your failure to address the issues raised at Commons:Administrators' noticeboard/User problems#A1Cafel in a satisfactory manner and continued inaccurate deletion tagging, I am imposing the following restrictions on you, effective immediately:
- You may not nominate images for deletion outside of the COM:DR process. So you cannot tag images as {{Copyvio}}, {{Duplicate}}, {{No license since}}, {{No source since}}, {{No permission since}}, etc.
- You may nominate a maximum of 5 images for deletion per day (UTC) via COM:DR. Note that this is 5 images, not 5 nominations, so it makes no difference whether you bundle the images in one nomination or nominate them separately.
- Exception: Requesting deletion of your own uploads is not subject to the above constraints.
Violations of these restrictions will be enforced with blocks, even if the offending action happens to be correct. If I see a sustained period of good deletion nominations, then I will consider loosening or lifting the restrictions. Additionally, though not a formal part of these restrictions, I urge you to refrain from wading into administrative areas you don't fully understand (in general, not just in relation to inactivity desysops), as it can cause unnecessary disruption for everyone involved. -- King of ♥ ♦ ♣ ♠ 19:40, 20 August 2020 (UTC)

Hi A1Cafel,
Why have you undone this edit? This page was already having an translation error, but there is the translationpart T:31. That's why this has to be included in translate tags. If it is excluded an error will occure. Maybe there is just another mistake on this page? Best regards --Ameisenigel (talk) 02:29, 26 August 2020 (UTC)
- @Ameisenigel: I just see after your edits, an error occurred. I don't know what's the problem just now. --A1Cafel (talk) 02:34, 26 August 2020 (UTC)

Flickr duplicates
Please do not import duplicates from Flickr, as you did with File:Bernie Chicago Illinois 3-7-20 5631 (49633769567).jpg. The Flickr2Commons interface should be able to automatically detect when images already exist on Commons. You have been blocked from F2C for this issue previously in April, and you may find yourself blocked from F2C again if you don't stop importing duplicates. Cease improper renaming of files
Sorry but renaming files such as File:Cyclone Pam Mar 15 2015 0205z.jpg to File:Pam Mar 15 2015 0205Z.jpg first off you didn’t not state a reason for the rename and second is doing so in violation of COM:FRNOT. Further renames will see me request that you have the File mover permission removed. Bidgee (talk) 04:17, 10 September 2020 (UTC)
- @Bidgee: The following file renaming is under COM:FNC#4: Harmonize the names of a set of images. You can see the related category to see if this fits or not. --A1Cafel (talk) 04:20, 10 September 2020 (UTC)
- Fine, I will be requesting that the file rename to be removed. How does removing Cyclone harmonise the file? The file name as you have done is meaningless. Bidgee (talk) 04:22, 10 September 2020 (UTC)
- @Bidgee: There is the unofficial format of the title of the TC: <Name> YYYY-MM-DD XXXXZ (formerly <Name> Month Day Year XXXXZ). Please see Category:2014-15 South Pacific cyclone season and all the other tropical cyclone season before blaming me that I'm violating COM:FR. --A1Cafel (talk) 04:28, 10 September 2020 (UTC)
- Doesn't mean it is correct formatting/naming. Use COM:VP or similar for a RfC on the file naming format. How are we to know what the image is, Cyclone, Hurricane, Typhoon, Tropical Storm are all given names and in some cases the same names are used, so how can we tell when we search for Cyclone Laura, that we don't get Hurricane Laura? It not just that you're moving to meaningless or ambiguous name but that face you do not use any reasons in the summary for the moves, something you are mean to do. Bidgee (talk) 04:42, 10 September 2020 (UTC)
- The YYYY-MM-DD or Month Day Year should tell the difference and it can avoid the confusion of a TC name that has been used many times. BTW, I promise that I will use the edit summary when moving files to tell which guidelines I'm using. --A1Cafel (talk) 04:47, 10 September 2020 (UTC)
- How many people would look at the date? Bidgee (talk) 04:49, 10 September 2020 (UTC)
- As the date are on the title, there is no way that you can't see the date. If you say you are going to ignore it, then I have nothing to say. --A1Cafel (talk) 04:52, 10 September 2020 (UTC)

Your licensing changes on my photos
Hi - I notice that you changed the license template on a number of my photos in Category:2020 San Francisco Women's March from PD-CAGov to PD-self. I used the former because I took these photos in my role as a California government employee. Please change them back, thanks. (I'd do it myself but I'm about to start work for the day.) - I understand that you mean no harm, but your "accidents" have been happening far too frequently. I often see that you import hundreds of Flickr photos every day, and with that volume it is inevitable that you will miss issues such as duplicates or COM:FOP. It is better to import a few images a day that are clearly useful and meet all Commons policies than to import hundreds and leave the mess for others to clean up. -- King of ♥ ♦ ♣ ♠ 02:03, 22 September 2020 (UTC)
- @A1Cafel: I see you uploaded a lot more of my files to Category:2020 San Francisco Women's March. I was intentionally selective about the ones I uploaded to Commons; the ones that I only uploaded to Flickr and not here were for good reason. Since my photos from this particular event are in the public domain I can't stop you from doing it, but I would prefer you'd be more selective in the future; not everything has to be on Commons.
